In a network, practice includes reach beyond personal ken grasp.

Cards for Insight
Addressing your questions, helping you reflect, reframe, rethink and enact.

1. Play^n
Generative intention. Begin with generativity in mind. The mind part in Conversations that Mind, Cultivate and Matter.

In a network, we play^n to win^n. This is a convivial, generative superset to the more common disposition, negotiated self-interest: in a network, we play to win.

2. Game^n
Play as convivial process, generative space as structure and knowledge as flows. The cultivation part in Conversations that Mind, Cultivate and Matter.

Cultivation is the deep, profound, convivial patterning in and inbetween mind and matter. Cultivation is to flow, what communication and conversation is to process and what technology is to structure.

A subset of this patterning is language, the commonly accessible part. Or, seen from inside narratives: patterning is the imagineering superset to language, languaging, pragmatic signal processing, lines of inquiry and discourse. Innovation can be seen, understood and applied (leveraged, adopted) as an interface between language and patterning.

Q&U: A generative superset to Q&A

3. Win^n
Metalogue. Meaning-making molecules forming larger anticipatory systems intelligence. The matter part in Conversations that Mind, Cultivate and Matter.

The win^n outcomes:

  • one trillion trees
  • one million villages
  • one thousand eco-cities
  • seven generations
Card: Social Machine

Social Machines: Functions

  1. Connecting people
  2. Exchanging information
  3. Augmenting intelligence
  4. Turning intelligence into ability (to wisely wield data, information, stories, knowledge, insight and value capture and coordination)
  5. Homesteading select parts of our 9E cognition selves into digital, virtual, networked, augmented and online forms
  6. Playing what cards are available, building blocks of play^n, game^n and win^n
  7. Shaping discourse, weaving lines of inquiry

One of the core challenges when it comes to social machines:

behavior < understanding understanding < agency

  • behavior: corporations as AI
  • understanding understanding: participation as the organizing principle
  • agency: agency in the light of all the above seven functions

Analog and Digital
In a network, game^n is to process what boundary objects are to structure and knowledge creation is to flow.

Cards
Cards are decision quality, possibility space and generative sequence affordances.

Building blocks: cards, functions, tools, boundary objects, practices

Card: Boundary Object
Boundary objects are objects which are both plastic enough to adapt to local needs and constraints of the several parties employing them, yet robust enough to maintain a common identity across sites.

Boundary objects are to games people play, what boundary objects^n are to game^n.

flow = structure x process

“x” = patterning

Card: Boundary Object^n
Boundary Objects^n are objects which are both vibrant and fluid enough to adapt to and address local needs and constraints of the several parties employing them, yet robust and generative enough to maintain a common identity across contexts and weave understanding.

— How would we know?
— Flow. Flow is how we know.
