Cards for Insight
As easy as a card game, as powerful as a social machine.

— What do you mean, lines?
— Knowledge flow and knowledge mapping.

Cards for Insight: How to Play
Pick two cards and add your thoughts between.

Cards for Insight: Shared understanding at card session scope.

Card: Data
Archiving the past, the result out of our
modes of inquiry, the artifacts of sense-
and meaning-making, as the deliberate
reweaving of meaning and experience.

… pick two cards and add your thoughts between …

Card: Flourish
In a network, data and story; story and data — with open,
participatory lines of joint sauntering, between.

… pick two cards and add your thoughts between …

Cards for Insight: Roped paths to preferable outcomes.

Card: Story
Concocting the future, the pull of attractors, centers,
visions, dreams, anticipatory systems intelligence
turned (response)ability — our collective imagination,
an unfolding of ourselves through perception, moves,
insight, action, experience and practical wisdom.

… pick two cards and add your thoughts between …

Card: Preferable Outcome
We made it?
What happened?
We happened.

Card: Taking Thought
In a network, taking thought is five things:

  1. Rekindling languaging when finding yourself (stuck) in a corner.
  2. Turning circles (personal ken grasp) into spirals (reach beyond grasp) through learning, by formulating, asking, gathering around and addressing generative questions.
  3. Taking thought, always and already immersed in a seeming seamless continuity of action: moves, arcs, circles, spirals along unfolding synkinaesthetic vectors.
  4. Understanding the difference between how nature thinks and how people work. Understanding essential character and a sense of purposefulness and anneal what knowledge, annealed, aligns the two. Identity as a provisional, relational stopping rule.
  5. Embracing renewal, contentment, personal ken comfort zone, denial, boundary management, confusion, trust and renewal. The stopping rule here is enkinaesthesia, situational awareness in a context of trust and movement, movement and trust.

Cards for Insight: Notice the flourish between Data and Story.

The unloved parts of yourself will then serendipitously bring you back to the first part, the rekindling, until you glow, until you glow in ways that illuminate the next step for others. It’s not “back” as much as it is an unfolding, a leveling up from cynicism to trust, from circle to spiral.

Boundary Objects: Cues and Scaffolds
Questions, cards, moves, insights, lines, arcs, circles, spirals
and spheroid spirals as cues and scaffolds for taking thought.

“We cannot think first and act afterwards. From the moment of birth
we are immersed in action and can only guide it by taking thought.”
― Alfred North Whitehead

Throughout the five steps and beyond, synkinaesthesia
is to vector, what enkinaesthesia is to field.

Card: Synkinaesthesia
Mind and agency,
co-evolving.

Card: Glow

“There are two kinds of light —
the glow that illuminates,
and the glare that obscures.”

— James Thurber

Every moment you glow, you will glimpse an intensely meaningful part of the field, inviting you to take thought, to make a different move, to take a different, adjacent possible step.

Card: Trust
Trust is cynicism.
Less of it. Trust
your cynicism.

“Trust movement.”
— Alfred Adler
